Our NEW Spring Starters!

This month we introduce four new team members to our Activ family! A BIG WELCOME to Saja and Amy in our Totley clinic, and Nikki and Sophie in our Hope clinic.

We are all thrilled to have them on board as they will be an asset to our daily working operations and we know our patients will be equally impressed!

SAJA (top left) the sister of lovely Nora (who is leaving us in July to pursue her dentistry career) is a sixth form student at King Ecgbert School studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths.

She told InterActiv: 'One thing I love to do, especially when feeling stressed about my workload and exams, is to go on walks – I enjoy  the scenery and nature. I also like to paint artwork as a way to de-stress. Lastly, my favourite thing is to spend time in the kitchen cooking and baking, with the TV on in the background. I hope to bring my creations in some time soon! I may seem like a quiet person but I enjoy listening to people more than I do talking, and l love helping people in any way I can'.

Here at Activ, we know Saja will be just as hard-working and loved by our patients as Nora – whose baked goodies are always well received!

AMY (top right) has been working in the health and fitness industry for over 25 years as a personal trainer and exercise instructor. She has also worked in GP referral for cardiac patients, and those who are recovering from a hip or knee replacement and cancer.

She said: 'I am really looking forward to being part of the Activ team. I have worked with a wide range of patients of different ages who are recovering from many different ailments and my oldest patient from the GP referral class is 93!'

Amy's new role at Activ as a therapy assistant will involve visiting patients in their homes, helping them out with their physio exercises.

'It will suit patients who have been seeing an Activ physio for some time and need to maintain what they have achieved with me as their therapy assistant. I feel privileged to be shadowing Activ physio Holly and working alongside her as her assistant. I am passionate about exercise as rehabilitation and I have seen for myself that the results can be life changing!'

Amy's other passion is running.

'As a busy mum or two, I don't do too badly for my age and was delighted to get a 'good for age' place in the London Marathon last year. I love being on-the-go, running, walking or biking. When I do get to sit down, I love to read a good book!'

NIKKI (above left) who has joined our Hope team, qualified as a physiotherapist at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2019 and worked briefly in the role before going back to being a paramedic during Covid.

She said: 'My physiotherapist job-to-be in a private practice in Manchester was cancelled due to the pandemic. I now work for Yorkshire Ambulance Service as a bank paramedic and am thrilled to be joining Activ and using my physiotherapy skills. I am very honoured and excited to be working for Activ and I am enjoying learning from the other physiotherapists!'

In her time off, Nikki enjoys playing her saxophone, rock-climbing, running, kayaking and paddle boarding.

SOPHIE (above right), currently a GCSE student, joined Activ as an administrator in our Hope clinic last month. Her ambition is to go to university to study physiotherapy (a great choice!) and no doubt she will gain an invaluable insight into the career she has set her sights on by chatting with our physios! Sophie likes to keep fit and is a gymnast. She is looking forward to entering a competition in June.
