Rob’s Charity Sleep Out Raises £300 To Help Homeless Veterans
Rob braved the colder evening weather last month, when he took part in The Great Tommy Sleep Out to raise vital funds to give homeless veterans a safe place to call home. The Royal British Legion's award-winning national appeal challenges people to sleep out beneath the stars and fundraise for UK veterans. It doesn't replicate rough sleeping, but it does give participants an idea of the situation far too many of the nation's heroes find themselves in.
Rob, pictured outside his tent, raised a total of £300 and told InterActiv:'I chose a night when it was well above freezing – the big coward that I am – and had to endure rain part way through pitching my tent!'
He also had to cope with 'ridiculous high winds throughout the night with the tent trying its best to take me to neighbouring gardens.'
Thankfully Rob survived the night without being blown away and 'without any Trench Foot or hypothermia and it was all for a very good cause.'
Rob added that The Great Tommy Sleep Out reminds all of us what so many homeless veterans have to endure every night - not just one evening in the year.
