Meet the Activ Physiotherapy team

Qualified: 2000 at Leeds Metropolitan University. Completed Masters in Physiotherapy at Sheffield Hallam University in 2015.

Before Activ: Sheffield Royal Hallamshire Hospital, BMI Thornbury Hospital, Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey Team.

Specialisms:Acupuncture, shockwave, spinal manipulation, back and neck pain, osteoarthritis, sports injuries and rehabilitation.

Outside Activ: Football, jogging, mountain biking, playing the guitar, good comedies and days out in the Peak District with his family.

Qualified: Qualified 2007 at Coventry University. Completed diploma in orthopaedic medicine.

Before Activ: Worksop Town Football Club, Notts County Football Club. NHS work in Norfolk, Boston and Lincoln. Plus private practice.

Specialisms: Acupuncture, shockwave, cupping, musculoskeletal physiotherapy, sports injuries and rehabilitation.

Outside Activ: Football and golf.

Qualified: Qualified in 1997 with BSc and MSc in Physiotherapy from Chiang Mai University, Thailand. Further postgraduate study includes an MSc in Sport Injury Management and Therapy (Sheffield Hallam University), a PG Dip in Medical Ultrasound (Merit), and Level 7 Injection Therapy (Musculoskeletal Medicine) at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Before ACTiV: Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy at Thammasat University, Thailand; nearly 14 years at Sheffield United FC (Senior Physiotherapist, then Head of Academy Sports Medicine, where I built the MSK ultrasound service); NHS First Contact Physiotherapist in GP practices across Sheffield and South Yorkshire. I also run my own business (SMPC), in Sheffield.

Specialisms: Musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy, musculoskeletal ultrasound (diagnostic and guided), injection therapy, sports injury management and rehabilitation.

Outside ACTiV: Road cycling, particularly long early morning rides, paying tennis, playing football, Gym/Aqua-aerobic and spending time with my family.

Qualified: 2024 at Sheffield Hallam University.

Before Activ: Worked at a private physiotherapy clinic and carried out her own research into nutrition and women's health to expand her knowledge, including learning more about REDs (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sports) - a condition which can occur when the training demands what the body's taking in as fuel through food.

Specialisms: Musculoskeletal
physiotherapy, sports injury management and rehabilitation, women’s health.

Outside Activ: Cheerleading, has competed at the World Cheerleading Championships held in Orlando, Florida, in April 2025. Climbing, baking, painting, and DJing and she is a self-proclaimed history nerd too!

Qualified: Level 5 Sports & Clinical Therapist, Personal Trainer and England Athletic Running Coach.

Before Activ: Worked in various multi-disciplinary Clinics & Primary Care

Specialisms: Debbie has her own clinic & small running club in North Sheffield. She specialists in rehabilitation and strength training. She is also training to teach Clinical Yoga classes which are designed to aid injury treatment and rehabilitation for specific needs or sport specific requirements.

Outside Activ: Debbie loves running, and is currently trying to compete in all the 6 major marathons (worldwide), with London, Berlin & Chicago already completed. She also loves spending time with her family.

Qualified:

Before Activ: Amy has been working in the Health & Fitness industry for 25 years as a personal trainer and exercise instructor.

Specialisms:

Outside Activ: Amy is a passionate runner, competing at the London Marathon last year. She also loves walking or biking as well as reading, when she does get the chance to sit down!

Lorna has been part of our Activ family since 2013. She makes sure that our clinic runs smoothly on a daily basis and takes care of all our staff and associates. She is also amazing at looking after our lovely patients and a pleasure to chat to.

Jackie works on reception in Totley on Monday and Tuesday. She is a lovely, smiley person who is loved by the patients and staff. She has lived in the local area for a long time and ran a local stage school for 16 years prior to joining Activ.

Cheryl is our newest member to the team and works on reception in our Totley clinic. She came highly recommended as her daughter was a well-respected member of the team who left to go to university in 2021.

Saja has recently joined our Totley team and is current studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths at sixth form.

Saja loves going on long walks, painting, cooking and baking!
