Our Patients Run The London Marathon - And Thank Debbie For Helping Them Get ‘Race-Ready’
We applaud Activ patients Ross, Fran and Imogen Richards, who braved the scorching weather on Sunday 27th April to take part in the London Marathon to raise thousands of pounds for the Children With Cancer charity. Sports Massage Therapist Debbie, based in our Totley clinic, helped them all get race-ready before the event.
It was the first time Ross, his wife Fran and their daughter 'Immy' had entered the annual marathon which starts at London's Blackheath, spans 42.195 km around the River Thames and finishes at The Mall. It was certainly a challenge they'll remember!
Ross told InterActiv, 'We all completed it and did really well, in brutal conditions; it was really hot. Fran and Immy ran the whole route together and finished in 5:13, crossing the line together, holding hands. I finished in 3:57 but overdid it and ended up in the medical tent with heatstroke! It took an hour for me to recover and then I needed some precautionary blood tests to check on liver and kidneys. Thankfully, I'm okay.'
He adds, 'We thank Debbie who looked looked after us physically and mentally during our training sessions.'
The Richards family are thrilled that together with 10 other competitors from Fran's company, they have raised over £25,000 for the Children With Cancer charity.
