We Celebrate our Lovely Lorna’s 10 Years at Activ!

We cannot quite believe it but this month marks a milestone for Lorna who is celebrating 10 years working for Activ! Here are some of the lovely comments from staff after we presented Lorna with flowers and gifts (more about these later) for her '10 Years Of Service.'

Lorna truly is a star and much-loved and respected member of the Activ team.

Lorna celebrates 10 years at Activ!

‘She is extremely helpful and explains things really well.'

'She has a lovely sense of humour.'

'Lorna always does her very best to help our patients.'

'She often brings in home-made food. Her Lemon Drizzle Cake is amazing.'

'A kind and caring person. The patients love chatting with her.'

'Knowledgeable, kind and patient. The backbone of Activ and we are so fortunate to have her.'

'Lorna is a Wonder Woman. She is super efficient, sincere and humble. I admire her punctuality and determination.'

'She's everyone's 'go-to' if there are any queries. I don't now what we would do without her!'

'Lorna constantly goes above and beyond her job description, being genuinely caring and interested in patients and approaching the role more like a community support champion, than practice administrator.'

'She's the caring mother behind the scenes looking after us and patients.'

'Activ opened in June 2007 in Totley (then opened a clinic in Norton in 2010) and in 2012 joined forces with successful physiotherapy practices in Bradway, Sheffield and Hope, Derbyshire.

There was a pressing need for an organised, key administrator to oversee the everyday running of the newly affiliated clinics. Directors Andy and George remember Lorna's much-needed arrival at the Bradway clinic in 2013, when she quickly set about impressively keeping the clinics shipshape and overseeing the everyday 'operational' running of the growing business.

Andy said: 'Lorna was an instant hit with the staff and patients as she has a lovely personality and can get on with anyone. She is very hard working and organised and basically kept us all organised too - and still does!'

George said: 'Lorna has always gone the extra mile for both patients and staff. She's a superstar.'

By 2016, increased patient bookings and the need for more space saw both Totley and Hope clinics move to new, larger premises. Bradway was closed in 2019  to provide even more hours and flexibility at Activ's new Sheffield base in Totley's Baslow Road. Lorna, along with the rest of our lovely admin team, played a pivotal role in Activ's growing success.

Andy added: 'Lorna is the glue that holds Activ together. She does so much for all of us and does the jobs behind the scenes that nobody sees that keeps the clinic organised. She also goes above and beyond. For example, she has been known to drive patients home rather than let them wait for a taxi or deliver letters and equipment. We are so lucky to have her!'

Lorna, who attended evening dance classes a few months ago with her husband Pete (enjoying a jive after her '9 to 5'!) was thrilled with her gift of an overnight stay for the pair of them at a top hotel, along with a sumptuous cream tea for two at The Fourteas Tea-Room Brasserie, Stratford-Upon-Avon, just metres away from the town's famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

She said: 'The last 10 years have gone by so quickly and Iove working here as it really does feel like being part of a 'family.' The staff are great and Andy is a fabulous boss. It's lovely to chat to the patients and many, including June and Alan Dewey and Rosie Leeman, have been coming to Activ since the Bradway days. It was such a lovely surprise to receive the gifts and I was actually lost for words! I'd like to say a big thanks to everyone. Pete and I are really looking forward to our time in Stratford, our hotel break and our cream tea in the 40s themed cafe. I've also discovered there's a 1940s cocktail bar in Stratford called The Officers' Mess so we will enjoy a drink, the 40s music and the ambience. It couldn't have worked out better!'

We are certain our patients will agree with our final celebratory message for Lorna (and Pete) from the Activ team.

ENJOY! You definitely deserve it!
